“Jace, I brought you something to put on,” he called out after a quick knock on the door.
“Okay, just a minute.”
Vince waited, trying not to imagine the soft terry cloth towel sliding over Jace’s naked body as he dried himself off. “Lucky towel,” he muttered.
The bathroom door opened and steam billowed out. It seemed Jace still loved his long, lava-hot showers. After a moment, the steam cleared and Jace stood there, the towel Vince had been envious of wrapped around his slim hips. Unprepared for the vision in front of him, Vince slowly ran his eyes from Jace’s gorgeous face flushed from the heat of the shower, down to his pretty feet, and taking in everything in between.
Vince dragged his gaze back up, intending to stop staring at Jace’s body, but his eyes caught on the curve of his shoulder. Water beaded on the spot, the drops sparkling in the light before trickling down his arm. The skin of his shoulder looked satin smooth and Vince knew it would be warm to the touch. Warm against his lips as he kissed the spot. Warm against his palm as he pulled his lover in close.
“Thanks for the clothes.”
At the sound of Jace’s voice, Vince finally managed to tear his gaze away. He quickly handed over the sweats and T-shirt before he spun around and strode back to the kitchen. His hands shook as he cut and plated the chocolate cake.
“Calm down,” he said to the quiet room. “A shoulder is nothing to get worked up about.” But it was. Because all he could think about was pressing kisses to that graceful curve. He would kiss there as he traced his fingers down Jace’s back, headed for the plump globes of his ass. Vince groaned and planted his hands on the counter. He lowered his chin to his chest, lost in thoughts of feeling Jace’s body after so long.
Resisting Jace framed in curls of steam and dressed in only a towel had been hard as hell. If he’d done what he wanted, they’d be in his bed already, with him thrusting deep within the heat of Jace’s body. But he was aware of Jace’s hesitance. The way he’d pulled back from his suggestion of dinner and insisting that their picnic wasn’t a date made it more than clear that Jace needed time. And damnit, he was trying to honor that and take things slow.
But he had a naked Jace in his house. And every thought he’d ever had about doing the right thing was stone cold silent. Instead, all he could think about was kissing that fucking sexy spot on Jace’s shoulder. Vince groaned again.
At the sound of soft footsteps approaching, Vince straightened. He picked up the desserts and turned to face the kitchen doorway. When his eyes landed on Jace, he nearly dropped the plates he held. Jace was wearing the shirt he’d given him and nothing else. His bare legs were exposed to the tops of his thighs, warm brown skin, silky, dark body hair, and lithe muscles visible for Vince’s eyes to feast on.
“Careful,” Jace whispered. “Or we’ll never get to eat that dessert.”
